Gary Bascle Drums, vocals and computer sequencing. Gary was taught to play drums at age five from renowned jazz great Ronald St. Germain. He used to play down in New Orleans off Bourbon St. at a place called Preservation Hall. Today that place is a legend and "the place" in New Orleans to hear the "real blues". He would fly back and forth to Chicago and New York playing all the "big gigs" of his day but still found time in his busy schedule to give my lessons. He knew all the greats; Louis Armstrong, Al Hirt, Pete Fountain, Harry James, Lionel Hampton and on and on. When he would come to my house for my lessons I used to cry because I had to take my drum lesson and couldn't play with the other kids." "When your 6 or 7 years old you never think about girls." Little did I know at the time that it would lead to all this. Now I'm glad that my parents saw fit to give me my drum lessons because none of the little crumb-crunchers I used to play with in the neighborhood ever developed any musical talent. |
